Thinking Argentina from within and from without
PensARG is Politeia’s Annual Conference and the project that gave rise to the organization in 2013. Since then it has become a space for debate and reflection on Argentina’s main challenges: its political life, its institutions, its economy, its society, and its place in the world.
Each edition brings together students, academics, public officials, leaders, specialists, and prominent figures from different fields to think about the country from a broad, plural, and rigorous perspective. The conference sets out to discuss Argentina “from within”, attending to its internal debates, conflicts, opportunities, and institutional problems; and “from without”, considering its place in the world, its regional ties, its foreign policy, and the challenges of the international stage.
PensARG combines panels, conversations, and spaces for exchange designed to bring students into substantive discussions about the country’s present and future. As an annual conference, it also expresses something central to Politeia’s identity: creating settings where politics can be considered with seriousness, plurality, and a sense of public purpose.

Do I have to be a Political Science or International Relations student to take part?
No! The event is aimed primarily at undergraduate students interested in academic perspectives on Political Science and International Relations, but you do not need to be studying those subjects to take part. Students from any field are welcome: from historians to future vets or civil engineers. You can also take part as a graduate student, or as a recent graduate or young professional.
Is the event free, or is there a fee?
Taking part in the Conference is free. Lunch, however, is at the participant’s own expense.
What does taking part in the Conference include?
The organization will cover three coffee breaks. In addition, attendance at a minimum of 6 panels is required to receive the corresponding Certificate of Participation.
Where will the Conference take place?
The event takes place on the campus of the University of San Andrés. The address is Vito Dumas 284, Victoria. You will need to bring your ID to enter. The University maintains a page explaining how to get there by public transport.
What should or can I bring?
All you need to bring is your ID (or passport for visitors from abroad), which you will use to enter the campus. (UdeSA students enter with face ID or their student card). You may bring phones and cameras, though Politeia reserves the right to prohibit any device during particular talks. You may also bring your own food for lunch, as explained in the question below.
What lunch options will be available?
Participation does not include lunch, but participants may buy sandwiches or hot dishes at the university cafeteria. Cash, Visa debit and credit, and MercadoPago are accepted. You may also bring your own food and heat it in a microwave.
I am coming from elsewhere in the country or from abroad. Can you help fund my travel or accommodation?
Politeia and the University of San Andrés are not able to offer travel or accommodation to participants.
I am an academic (including UdeSA faculty) or a professional and I would like to attend the talks. Can I sign up?
The Conference is aimed at students and recent graduates, but if you would like to take part or attend a particular talk you can write to us at politeia@udesa.edu.ar. University faculty are welcome to attend the talks, but for their own comfort we recommend letting us know in advance so that we can reserve space in the rooms.
