Model United Nations

about THE model

The Model United Nations for Schools at the University of San Andrés is an academic program organized by Politeia, aimed at students in their final years of secondary school.

The activity seeks to bring participants closer to the major debates on the contemporary international agenda through a diplomatic simulation. During the Model, students represent delegations, research a national position, debate in committees and international bodies, negotiate with other participants, and draft proposals addressing global issues.

More than a single-day activity, the Model is conceived as a learning journey. Taking part involves advance preparation, research, training sessions, work with accompanying teachers, and a full day of debate on campus. In the process, students develop skills in critical analysis, oral argument, formal writing, negotiation, active listening, and teamwork.

Since its first editions, the Model has become one of Politeia’s most important initiatives and a benchmark experience in the training of young people interested in international relations, diplomacy, and public affairs.
